Snoot Pigment and Powder
Snoot is a two step topical coating for dogs and cats, designed to provide UV protection, form a protective barrier and restore the appearance of natural skin pigmentation.

What is Snoot?

Snoot combines a liquid pigment with a setting powder to form a coating that bonds to the skin. The pigment provides coverage in the selected shade, while the powder sets the coating to help it remain in place.
Snoot Pigment is available in Black/Brown or Natural Pink, allowing the shade to be selected to suit the area being treated and the surrounding natural pigmentation.
Snoot can be applied to suitable external sites including the nose (nasal planum) and ear tips.

When Might Snoot Be Recommended?
Snoot may be recommended when exposed skin needs additional protection from sunlight. This can include areas where natural pigmentation is reduced or absent, or dermatological conditions where UV exposure may aggravate affected skin, including discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE). UV exposure can worsen cutaneous lupus, while canine DLE can involve depigmentation, inflammation, erosion and ulceration of the nasal planum.
Where an underlying skin condition is present, Snoot may form part of a broader veterinary management plan. Snoot does not treat the underlying disease, so continue any treatment plan recommended by your veterinary team.
If you are unsure whether Snoot may be suitable for your pet or patient, our team can help.

UV Protection
The pigmented coating provides a protective layer over the treated skin to help reduce UV exposure.
Dermatologist Formulated
Selected by our veterinary dermatology team for targeted application to exposed skin.
Topical Use Only
For external use only. Apply to suitable skin surfaces as directed and avoid the eyes, mouth and inside the nostrils.
How to Apply Snoot
Prepare. Apply. Set. Finish.
Snoot is applied in four stages: prepare the area and tools, apply light, even coats of Snoot Pigment, set with Snoot Powder, then allow the coating to settle and minimise disruption to help the finish last.

Prepare.
Clean and dry the area
Ensure the application area is as clean and dry as possible
Avoid sensitive areas
Do not apply near the eyes, mouth or inside the nostrils or directly on ulcerated areas of skin.
Prepare clean tools
Have a fresh cotton tip and clean powder applicator ready.
Choose a calm setting
Work in a quiet area where your pet can remain settled.

Apply.
Using a fresh cotton tip, apply a light, even coat of Snoot Pigment. If greater coverage is needed, apply up to three light coats. Several light coats are preferable to one heavy coat. Allow the pigment to dry until tack-free before applying Snoot Powder. Ensure the area is evenly covered, as areas without adequate coverage may not receive sufficient UV protection.

Set.
Using a clean powder applicator, gently dust Snoot Powder over the area treated with Snoot Pigment. Lightly pat the powder into place to set the pigment.
Keep your pet calm and prevent licking, rubbing or contact with water while the coating sets.

Finish.
An application may last around one to five days. Frequent contact with water, excessive rubbing or licking of the application area can hasten wear. Reapply when additional colour coverage or UV protection is required. Seek veterinary advice if any redness, swelling, discomfort or irritation develops.
