Why Choose Animal Dermatology Specialist?
When your pet has ongoing itching, recurrent ear infections, allergies or other persistent dermatological concerns, having confidence in the care they receive can make a meaningful difference.
Animal Dermatology Specialist provides referral veterinary dermatology care for dogs, cats and other animals across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Townsville. We are an independently owned and operated veterinary dermatology practice based in Queensland, led by a dual boarded registered specialist in veterinary dermatology.
These are some of the things we believe make a real difference.

Who we are
An Independently Owned and Operated Practice
We are locally owned and operated, with a team committed to personalised care for you and your animal.
Our Founder and Managing Director is a dual boarded registered specialist in veterinary dermatology, ensuring clinical knowledge and dermatological experience are at the heart of every decision. This means you can count on a genuine commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for your animal.
We focus exclusively on the diagnosis and management of skin, ear and allergy conditions in dogs, cats and other animals. We support patients and referring veterinarians when cases are persistent, difficult to manage or not responding as expected, including ongoing itching in dogs and cats, recurrent ear infections, skin infections, allergic skin disease, paw licking and hair loss.
At selected locations, ADS is engaged to provide specialist veterinary dermatology services from within established multidisciplinary specialist hospitals. Our team works alongside internal medicine, surgery and other specialties, supporting a comprehensive approach for patients with complex or concurrent health conditions.
Our independence means every decision and every investment is focused on our people, our patients, our clients and the local veterinary communities we are part of. Clients and referring veterinarians have a direct line to the ADS team, who understand each case and coordinate every stage of care. We also invest in the latest dermatology equipment, technology and clinical systems, giving us control over the quality and consistency of our service across locations.
Expanding Our Team and Locations to Bring Care Closer to You
We continue to invest in our team, locations and technology to improve access to specialist dermatology care across Queensland.
Our veterinary dermatology services are available across Brisbane North, Brisbane West, Brisbane South, Gold Coast North, Gold Coast South and Townsville. This means more clients can access care closer to home, or attend an alternative clinic location for an earlier appointment where availability allows. As a team-based dermatology practice, this structure supports continuity of care over time, ensuring your pet’s treatment remains consistent and well coordinated.
We are deeply grateful to the veterinarians and nurses who choose ADS as their professional home, sharing our values of clinical excellence, compassionate care and strong engagement with the local veterinary community. Their dedication enables timely, high-quality care and reinforces the trust our clients place in us every day.

A Registered Provider of Specialist Dermatology Training
We are shaping tomorrow's specialists to ensure ongoing excellence.
Animal Dermatology Specialist is provisionally approved by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD) to train future board-certified specialists. We are also able to provide Fellowship training in veterinary dermatology through the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS). This recognition means your pet is cared for in an environment that meets the highest standards of clinical knowledge, continued education, teaching and case management.
Our specialists, registrar and resident work in close collaboration, reviewing cases, sharing insights and evidence-based techniques and best-practice approaches to case management. It’s reassurance that your pet is in the hands of a team dedicated to advancing veterinary dermatology.
A Cohesive Team Providing Consistency and Truly Personalised Care
We offer a stable, cohesive veterinary and nursing team who have worked together for many years, having built long-standing relationships, trust and complementary skills. Their familiarity allows them to provide consistent, high-quality care across our clinic locations. We've also welcomed new clinicians who share our values and dedication to excellence, strengthening our ability to deliver reliable, personalised care across our clinic locations.
Through ongoing staff development and strong partnerships with referring veterinarians, we maintain team continuity, trusted relationships, and familiar care for our clients and the veterinary community.
Nursing Excellence at the Heart of Our Practice
Our nursing team brings over 35 years of combined veterinary dermatology experience, offering a depth of expertise rarely seen in a specialist dermatology practice. It’s this experience and their passion for the field of dermatology that set our nursing team apart.
Working alongside our veterinarians, who collectively have over 24 years of dermatology experience, they provide calm, compassionate care that supports accurate diagnosis, treatment and long-term management from start to finish.
Their attentive approach puts pets at ease and complements our veterinarians at every step, ensuring continuity of care and meticulous attention to detail. With tailored support, careful monitoring and genuine care, our nurses play a critical role in supporting pets with skin, ear and allergy conditions, ensuring they are in safe and experienced hands.
We are deeply grateful to the nurses who have chosen to be part of ADS, bringing this incredible depth of experience and passion to our team every day.
An Advanced Level of Care
Ongoing Investment in Advanced Diagnostic and Treatment Technology for Better Outcomes
We invest in our own dedicated dermatology equipment, technology and clinical systems to support accurate diagnosis, targeted treatment and consistent care for animals across our locations.
Among our advanced technologies are multiple Storz endoscopy units, used to examine ear canals and perform advanced ear examination and procedures. We recently invested in the latest Storz High-Definition monitor, which is the first of its kind currently used in a veterinary dermatology practice in Queensland. This provides clearer visuals for our veterinary team and supports more accurate diagnosis and treatment.
We have also invested in a CO₂ surgical laser, enabling precise removal of selected skin lesions and dermatological growths minimal bleeding and faster healing in appropriate cases. This advanced equipment can help reduce discomfort and support recovery, improving outcomes for your animal.
These and many other advanced tools support the diagnosis and management of skin, ear and allergy conditions, helping us minimise discomfort and deliver more effective treatments. We remain committed to purposeful investment in new technologies where they offer meaningful benefits, ensuring we can continue to provide up-to-date dermatological care.
Feline Dermatology at Queensland’s Only Cat-Only Specialist Hospital in Underwood
We see cats at all of our operating locations, however, we are proud to partner with Cat Specialist Services in Underwood to provide dermatology services within Queensland’s only purpose-built specialist hospital exclusively for cats.
As the sole dermatology provider within this dedicated cat-only hospital, we can offer highly tailored care for feline patients. This feline-only environment reduces stress associated with other species and supports a calmer, more controlled setting for cats with skin, ear and allergy conditions, including overgrooming, scabs, hair loss and irritation.
We strive to help our patients feel relaxed and settled, allowing our team to perform thorough dermatology examinations with minimal distress.
